Phyllis Weston, a woman synonymous with the arts in Cincinnati, was honored with the Fine Arts Fund’s Rosa F. and Samuel B. Sachs Fund Prize in ceremonies at the Cincinnati Art Museum, with more than 150 well-wishers in attendance.
Weston served as vice president and director of Closson’s Art Gallery for four decades. She also was curator of the Procter & Gamble Collection during John Smale’s tenure. There she assembled a collection, representing Cincinnati artists from the 19th century to the early 20th century, which has been donated to the Cincinnati Art Museum. She presently owns the Weston-Bolling Gallery in Oakley with Annie Bolling Rangeley.
The Sachs Fund Prize was first awarded in 1929, recognizing those who have made an important contribution to the artistic life of Cincinnati, also bringing distinction to themselves and the region through their work.
